For 2008, you will find True treadmills at the top of a lot of Reviews. They have the whole treadmill field covered from "Best Buy" price aggressive, feature packed treadmills, to "Best Overall" treadmills. True will offer as it did last year, it's Performance Series treadmills which were highly praised in Runners World magazine and Consumer Reports. If you are looking at treadmills from $2000 - $3000, the Performance Series should be on the shopping list. The Performance Series has a commercial running/ walking platform, 3 hp Motor, Contact heart Rate, Wireless Interactive Heart Rate, Quick Speed Keys, Quick Elevation Keys, and the infamous True suspension system that has lead to much of their fame. Starting less than $2500, the lineup seemed to good to be real, but it's True.
New for 2008 from True is the Excel Series. True pushed price out of the way and went back to their roots to build the best home quality treadmills on the market. Simply hand crafted machines that are sleek, smooth, sturdy, silent and a beautiful thing to exercise on. As much as we can ramble on about the specs of the machine, the coolest thing of the Excel series is their ipod inspired electronics. You can adjust speed, elevation, weight, programs etc ... through their "mywheel" electronics platform. If you seek the best of the best, the True Excel series is it. Reviews are already rolling in as the Best new Treadmills on the market from treadmilldoctor.com .
The Performance Series
PS100, PS300, PS500, PS700
The whole series of treadmills is really all the same machine. The breakdown is that you have two options to choose from: orthopedic belt, built in television. The orthopedic belt is a little thicker of a walking belt that acts like a good pair of shoes. It provides a little more absorption and little more traction. Some people are opposed to ortho belts from a service standpoint because they are heavier than a normal belt. Using a heavier belt has to make other components in the machine work a little harder. Our take on Ortho belts, buy it if it feels good. The second option is the built in LCD television. Being that the machine has a great warranty including the electronics, another we would encourage to invest into if it keeps you coming back to the machine.
PS 100 Treadmill: No Ortho Belt, No TV
PS 300 Treadmill: Ortho Belt, No TV
PS 500 Treadmill: No Ortho Belt, TV Yes
PS 700 Treadmill: Ortho Belt, TV Yes
